Forest Pest reporting Form
Forest Pest Reporting Form
One of the main challenges facing the forestry sector today is that of Invasive Alien species (IAS). In the past decade alone , the country has experienced some pest outbreaks causing serious economic loses in plantation forestry. Thaumastocoris peregrinas ; Leptocybe invasa and Glycarpsis brimblecombei continue to pose a threat on the viability of plantation forestry in Zimbabwe. These pests target various Eucalyptus species causing serious damage on the trees which results in stunted growth among many other disturbances to the plant. The Forestry Commission is mandated under the Forest Act (Chapter 19:05) to manage forest resources, and conduct research to generate knowledge on proper management of these resources. We therefore seek your cooperation to help us execute this mandate by reporting any forest pest incidences that you encounter in your plantations , woodlots or in natural forests. Kindly make use of our pest reporting form below
